Sharyn Gillette

March 24, 1946 — November 5, 2021

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Sharyn Yvonne Gillette, née Patton, of Edinboro, Pennsylvania on Friday, November 5th, 2021 at the age of 75. Sharyn will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, James H. Gillette; children, James (Julie) Gillette Jr., Jennifer (Stephan) Gillette-Menc, and Christopher Gillette; grandchildren, Sydney, Skylar, Christian, Estella, Cole, and Jude. She is survived by her siblings; John (Joann) Patton, Roger (Dorothy) Patton, Sheila (Nurmi) Caggiano, and her sister-in-law, Deborah (John) Gillette. Sharyn’s memory will be cherished by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Imogene Patton, née Hyde, and her sister, Shirley (William) Hellyer, née Patton.

Sharyn was born on March 24, 1946, to James and Imogene Patton. She attended Northwestern High School and graduated in 1964. While attending Northwestern she met the love of her life, James H. Gillette. They were married on October 1, 1966 at St. Lawrence Church in Albion, Pennsylvania. They were childhood sweethearts who grew up together and established a meaningful life full of blessings and joy.

Sharyn cofounded Gillette Masonry Incorporated with her husband, James. While Jim was hard at work on the job site, Sharyn was in the office keeping operations organized. Sharyn and Jim were never afraid to try new things. They purchased and operated Mister Donut and the iconic Crossroads Dinor in Edinboro, Pennsylvania for many years. Sharyn and Jim also worked together to develop the Shenango Heights subdivision. They were a great team. Of all her accomplishments, Sharyn was most proud of her family and home. She was a fiercely devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Sharyn supported her family unconditionally through the ups and downs of life. She loved nothing more than spending her days in her home trying new recipes, reading, and creating a welcoming space for her family. She found particular joy in her dog, Poppy, and enjoyed taking her everywhere.

Sharyn was the rock of her family and her words of advice, sharp wit and daily conversations will be dearly missed.
