Rosemary Gebhardt

November 6, 1949 — January 4, 2022

Rosemary Gebhardt, a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away January 4, 2022 at her home in Edinboro, PA at age 72.  She was born on November 6, 1949 in Erie, PA to the late Mary and Wayne Tipton.

Rosemary met Terry Gebhardt while attending General McLane High School and following graduation in 1967 married Terry in 1968.  Rosemary and Terry went on to have three children, Terry, Tracy, and Brandi Gebhardt.

Following many jobs in the Edinboro area, Rosemary began working at the Campus Bookstore at Edinboro University in 1980, where she worked for the next 32 years. Rosemary enjoyed people, rarely missing an opportunity to engage and assist others.  As a longtime member of the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, she logged many hours supporting the fire department and community.

Rosemary loved her family dearly and in addition to her kindness was known for her light-spirited, fun-loving nature.  Among many things, she will be missed for her ever-present smile, her chicken noodle soup, an endless supplies of root beer floats, and Dots candies.

Rosemary was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a brother, Billy Tipton; and grandson Judah Scrutchins.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Terry C. Gebhardt; two daughters, Tracy Gebhardt of Edinboro, PA and Brandi Gebhardt of Ft. Worth, TX; a son, Terry W. (René) Gebhardt of Friendswood, TX; a brother, Dennis (Carol) Tipton of Erie; two sisters, Louella Cole of Edinboro, PA and Marjorie (Charles) Phillips of Erie, PA; six grandchildren, Jaxon and Julia Scrutchins and Ian, Carson, Dalton, and Levi Gebhardt.  She also leaves behind many dear and close friends, including Paula Tipton, Linda Kennely, and Denna Dedrick.

Rosemary will be laid to rest at Erie County Memorial Gardens.  There will be no funeral service, although a celebration of life will be held at a future date.  Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 www.stjude.org.  To send condolences please visit www.gluntfuneralhome.com.
