June Slodowick

June 25, 1918 — November 23, 2020

June W. Slodowick passed away on November 23, 2020 at Masonic Village in Sewickley, PA.  She was 102.  She was born on June 25, 1918 in Erie, PA, the daughter of William “Clair” and Mildred Proud-Welker.  She was orphaned at an early age due to the Spanish Flu of 1918 and was raised by her grandparents, George and Nellie Welker.  A 1941 graduate of Edinboro State College with a BS degree in education, her first teaching position was at Hamilton in a one room school house.  She later operated a private kindergarten in Edinboro.

June was a member of the Edinboro Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for forty years.  She was also a member of Eastern Star, Heather Garden Club, Shadbush Club, the National Camping Travelers and volunteered at the Wesbury Community in Meadville, PA

June was married fifty-one years to Chet Slodowick who died in 1993.  She is survived by her children Gary (Linda) Slodowick, Daniel (Betty) Slodowick, and Gayle (Wally) Slodowick-Arent , as well as grandchildren Carrie, Dan, Christy, Jeremy, Jared and Sam, and eight great-grandchildren.  She cherished her family and the time they spent together.

June loved all things outdoors, gardening, camping, travel and adored birds and animals of all kinds.  It was her wish that memorials be made to the Erie Humane Society, 2407 Zimmerly Rd. 16506; or the Edinboro United Methodist Church, 113 High St. Edinboro, 16412,  Arrangements were entrusted to Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory with private graveside services at Mill Village Cemetery.
