Jesus “Chuy” M. Lomelin, 83 of Edinboro, died Thursday, November 18, 2021 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico on November 7, 1938, the son of the late Manuel and Maria Lomelin.
Chuy worked hard all his life. Before coming to the USA, he worked for American, Richard Hopkins, in his frozen dessert company in Guadalajara, Mexico. He loved to cook and bake, and he put those skills to work as a chef at Crossroads Diner in Edinboro for many, many years.
He was a parishioner at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
Throughout his life, Chuy enjoyed many interests and pastimes, including, singing, gardening, landscaping, fishing, beekeeping, dancing, boxing, long distance swimming and cycling, running and roller skating. He loved the ocean, music and movies, especially on TCM. Above all, he was a very spiritual person, helpful and kind to anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Guadalupe Lomelin; two sisters, Micaela Lugenbeel and Rosario Mendoza.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Maria De La Luz "Lucy"; a daughter, Rocio “Rosi” Lomelin; and two sisters, Teresa “Tere” Rodriguez and Rosa “Chinita" Garcia, both of Guadalajara.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 128 Sunset Drive, Edinboro.
