Harvey A. “Doc” Turner, 91 of McKean, passed Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Forestview Skilled Nursing. He was born in Titusville, PA on February 12, 1930, the son of the late Dennis and Cecile Turner.
Harvey served in the United States Army Air Corp in Guam during World War II. He was a member of Edinboro-McKean VFW Post #740 and the Union City American Legion.
His career path entailed numerous positions that included self-employed truck driver, managing auto body shops, including Knobloch Toyota in Erie, an auto damage appraiser for Liberty Mutual Insurance for 18 years, as well as drove school bus for the General McLane School District for many years. His final employment was a driver for Erie Auto Auction.
In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling and gardening. He enjoyed being around friends and family especially when he got to tell jokes and stories or express his political views. He was known to indulge in one or many beers on the weekends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy in 2017; brothers, Clifford Turner, William Turner and Dennis Turner; sisters, Helen Hoke and Lois Ellington; and a grandson, Eric Turner.
Survivors include his son, Carl (Helen) Turner of McKean; three daughters, Sandra (Dennis) Gilbert of Bel Air, MD, Martha (Paul) Chernichky of Edinboro, and Cheryl (William) Fowler of St. Augustine, FL; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
