Charles E. Reed, 66, of Meadville, died Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Meadville Medical Center. He was born in Edinboro on February 4, 1954, the son of the late Otis and Sylvia Reed.
Charlie was a graduate of General McLane High School. He also attended culinary school and Triangle Tech in Erie.
He had worked as a cook at Elby’s Big Boy in Erie. He owned Tri-State Fencing and then worked at Edinboro Manor as the maintenance director. Charlie also served for a short time in the US Army and was a member of the American Legion.
He was a “Jack of all trades” but especially loved wood-crafting and repairing lawn mowers.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rita in 2016; an infant son, Christopher; three brothers, Bernard, Kenneth and John Reed; and two sisters, Lucille Clarke and Esther Reed.
Survivors include his daughter, Robin (Zach) Muir, of Utah; two sisters, Kathryn Bunce and Roberta Thompson, both of Titusville; three nephews, Michael Thompson, James Howls and Chris Denny; four nieces, Crystal Thompson, Kim Keep, Kiesha Hines and Andrea Denny; and so many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 3 to 5 p.m. A short service will be held there at 5:00 p.m.
