William H. "Bill" Brown, 80, of Hermitage, PA, formerly of Edinboro, PA and Warrenton, VA, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2025 at his home after a long illness and beating cancer. Bill was born on October 16, 1944 in Erie, Pa.
He graduated from General McLane High School in 1962 and Edinboro University in 1987. Bill served with the US Air Force. After serving his country he returned to the Edinboro area where he worked for Frank Pulling Trucking Company, Chernicky Construction, and General Electric. After graduating from Edinboro University Bill relocated to the Washington DC area and worked as a geologist. Bill was a member of Trout Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited and the American Legion.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fly fishing. His love of these activities led him to sharing that love with many friends and family. His patience allowed him to teach several friends his love of hunting. In addition, he taught every child and grandchild the art of fly fishing. He was a master of tying flies as well as building fly rods. Bill was a well known and respected horse-show Papa. He assisted many young riders, including his grandchildren, in preparing for shows and caring for horses. Bill enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Bill leaves behind a devoted family. His wife of almost 61 years, Kathleen L. Brown (Pulling), a son, Christopher Brown and wife Robin Brown of Edinboro; a daughter, Tricia Brown-Hahn of Rixeyville, VA and daughter-in-law, Cassandra Brown of Beaver, PA; grandchildren, Casey Brown and his wife, Tarra Brown, Madison Hahn, Jennifer Brown, Kennedy Brown, Tyler Nickle and Alyson Nickle. In addition, great grandchildren, Grayson Brown, Easton Atwell, Emerson Atwell and Brooks Brown; brother and sisters in-law, Ken and Barb Chernicky, Judy Pulling and Joanne Munzert. Bill was preceded in death by his son Steven Scott Brown. His presence will be missed by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Friends may call at Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 2:30 – 4:30 pm. A service will follow at 4:30 pm.
