Vernie H. Smith

Vernie H. Smith, 83, of Edinboro, died peacefully, Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at her home. She was born in Glassport, PA on October 28, 1939, the daughter of the late Robert and Lela First.

Vernie was a graduate of Academy High School in Erie. 

Other than being a wonderful loving mother to her 5 children, Vernie worked at General McLane High School in the cafeteria and also cleaning in the evenings.

Vernie had a wonderful faith in God and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She loved cooking, crafts, yard sailing and especially gardening.

She was preceded in death by a son, James Smith in September, 2020.

Survivors include  her 3 sons, Wayne (Valerie) Smith of Saegertown, Dan (Gail) Smith of Waterford, and Fred (Rachel) Smith of Conneaut, Ohio; a daughter, Beverly Gardner of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Jessica and Allan Smith; and a great-grandson, Jackson.

No calling hours or public services will be held.  The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
