Dr. Thomas H. Nuhfer, age 89 of Edinboro, PA, passed away peacefully at his residence on July 15, 2025. He was born in Rynd Farm Oil City on June 29, 1936 to the late Harry and Mary Nuhfer.
Thomas graduated from Townville High School and earned his B.S., M.S. and PhD from Edinboro University, Penn State University, University of Buffalo, and University of Pennsylvania. He was a high school teacher at Titusville for several years, then started at Edinboro University in 1965 where he taught until his retirement in 2003, achieving Emeritus status. He was an advisor to Phi Sigma Kappa and touched the lives of many students during his tenure. He was an active member of Edinboro United Methodist Church, where he served as a Trustee and as Chair of the original building committee.
Thomas enjoyed running, walking, golfing, reading, gardening, and watching birds. Most of all, he loved his family.
Preceded in death by his parents and his wife of sixty-three years, Jacqueline Nuhfer. He is survived by his two sons, Barry (Debbie) Nuhfer and David (Sandy) Nuhfer; seven grandchildren, Andrew (fiancée Leah), Tom, Adam, John (Hannah), Jim, Sam (Marisa) Nuhfer and Lisa (Justin) See; five great-grandchildren, Lilly, Ivy, and Mila Nuhfer and Aurora and Aspen See; sister, Judy McPherson; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to call Monday, July 21, 2025 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie St., Edinboro, PA. A funeral service conducted by Rev. Ed Schoeneck will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Edinboro United Methodist Church, 113 High St., Edinboro, PA.
