Robert J. Kraus, 90 of Edinboro, died Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Edinboro Manor. He was born in Erie, PA on December 4, 1933, the son of the late Richard and Marcella Kraus.

Bob attended East High School in Erie.  He served in the US Army for two years and worked as a coremaker for Erie Casting Co. for over 30 years. He later worked in maintenance for the General McLane School District.

Bob was one of the original and lifetime members of Knights of Columbus, Council #6191 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edinboro. He was active in the Presque Isle Beagle Club, enjoyed hunting and was happy to have realized his dream of building and owning a camp with the Joseph Saber family.   For over 50 years, Bob and his brothers bowled in the Erie Brothers Bowling Tournament and he enjoyed sharing the team's name with his nephews from Michigan. He also bowled in a local league at Edinboro Lanes for many years. Bob always looked forward to participating with the GM Marching Band on his John Deere tractor.  Above all, he loved to spend time with family and was especially proud of his two great grandchildren, Everett Skelton and Findley Hanby.

Bob was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward (Doris) Kraus, William (Marge) Kraus, and Richard Kraus.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruth (Findley) Kraus; two daughters, Deborah Sanden of Waterford and Diane (Robert) Skelton of Springboro; a brother, Donald Kraus of Gibsonia, PA; two sisters, Mary Garland of Webster, NY and Marcella “Sally” Harmle of Erie, PA; grandchildren, Steven Sanden, Andrew (Rylee) Sanden, Jessica (Kyle) Hanby, Derek (Alyssa) Skelton and Rachel Skelton; great grandchildren; a sister- in-law, Allene Kraus of Erie; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staffs of the Erie VA, Edinboro Medical Center, Comfort Keepers, St. Vincent Hospital, Edinboro Manor and AseraCare Hospice for all of their care and support.  A special thank you to Carrie, Jessica, Shannon and Leslie.  Without your help, we could not have granted Bob’s wish to stay at home.
