Robert M. Koca

Robert M. Koca, 86, of McKean, PA, died at his home on Monday, September 28, 2026. He was born in Chicago, IL on January 24, 1940, the son of the late Leonard and Lillian Koca.

Bob graduated from St. Giles High School and cum laude from St. Mary's College. He then earned a doctorate degree from Case Western Reserve University. He began his career as an Organic Chemist at AMOCO Chemicals Corp. Research and Development in 1968. He later worked at Calsicat Division of Mallinckrodt Research and Development, and then General Electric Transportation Systems as a consultant. Throughout all his work, he developed multiple catalyst patents.

Bob enjoyed rugby, track, swimming, skiing, gardening, playing the guitar and singing. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in McKean.

He was preceded in death by his late wife, Jane Koca. Survivors include his wife of 19 years, Janice; two daughters, Janel (Paul) Browning of LaJolla, CA and Kirsten (Eric) Yonkin of Clearwater, FL; four sons, Robert (Eva) Koca, Jr. of Ft. Washington, MD, Christopher and Matthew Koca, both of Erie, PA and Stephen (Jenn) Koca of Pasadena, CA; and eleven grandchildren; Molly Browning of Arlington, VA, Andy Browning of Troy, NY, Ian Ostrowski of Pittsburgh, PA, Allison Koca, Abigail Koca and McKenna Koca, all of Erie, PA, Henry Yonkin and Thaddeus Yonkin of Clearwater, FL Rosalyn Koca and Oliver Koca, of Pasadena, CA, and Eva Mitter of Iowa City, IA.

A private memorial service will be held for family and close friends. The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro is entrusted with arrangements.
