Richard D. Pifer, 91, of Edinboro, died Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born in Big Run, PA on April 26, 1935, the son of the late Davis and Goldie Pifer.

Richard served in the US Army. He attended Penn State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts. He spent the majority of his career in Human Resources for various companies, including the US Postal Service for 24 years. He was a member of F&AM Punxsutawney, PA and BPOE Reynoldsville, PA.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid fan of Penn State football, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He enjoyed hunting, golf, and stock trading, and spent a great deal of time creating tin artwork, which he and his wife, Tona, sold at craft shows. In his later years, he enjoyed meeting his group of “cronies” for weekly coffee and conversation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Tona, in 2025, and by one sister, Lorraine Jordan.

Richard is survived by two sons, Wayne (Becky) Pifer of Corry, and Mark (Michelle) Pifer of Edinboro; three grandchildren, Kelly (Collin) Smith of Pittsburgh, Madison Pifer, and Matthew Pifer; and one great-grandchild, Blaire Smith. He is also survived by a sister, Diane (Max) Neal, two brothers, Roger (Judy) Pifer and Randall (Beth) Pifer; and several nieces and nephews.

No services will be held at this time. The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro is entrusted with arrangements.
