Pearl (Wieszczyk) Mientkiewicz, Age 94 resident of Fairview Manor passed away on Wednesday August 11th, 2016 at Millcreek Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 5th, 1922 daughter of the late Valentine and Coletta Wieszczyk.

Pearl was 1941 graduate of East High. She worked at Aluminum Forgings during WWII supporting the troops then at Bliley Electric. It was during that time at the urging of his sister Theresa that she started corresponding with her eventual husband Leonard Mientkiewicz who she had not met who was in the Army in Europe. They would eventually be married on April 12th, 1947.

Pearl was a member of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church in McKean along with being a member of the Rosary Society and Sunshine Circle through the church. She also was a former member of the McKean Golden Agers.

She loved her Polish heritage and was able to speak Polish fluently. Her family enjoyed her Polish cooking.

Pearl enjoyed bingo, going to casinos, crossword puzzles, cooking, baking, watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and spending time with family especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Leonard, Son Jerry Mientkiewicz, Daughter Christine Barnes, sisters Rose, Antoinette Wieszczyk and Frances Cieslinski, Brothers Daniel and Raymond Wieszczyk.

She is survived by her son Walter Mientkiewicz and his wife Darlyne of McKean, daughter in law Pam Mientkiewicz of California and son in law Mike Barnes and his wife Victoria of Pittsburgh. Brother Valentine Wieszczyk and his wife Joan, Brother in law Chester Mientkiewicz and sister in law Terese Wieszczyk.

Five Grand Children, Kent Jungclause Stephanie Ulery (Jason), Greg Barnes, Jacob and Jeremy Mientkiewicz. Three great grandchildren Makayla, Jackson Ulery and Kendal Jungclause. Many Nieces and nephews.

The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Friends may call at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 8880 Main St., McKean, PA 16426, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held there on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Mark Nowark officiating.
