Paul E. Chernichky, 67 of Edinboro, died Thursday, December 16, 2021 at UPMC Hamot. He was born in Erie, on July 13, 1954, the son of Thelma Chernichky Vamos and the late George E. Chernichky.
Paul was a 1972 graduate of General McLane High School and Erie County Technical School.
Paul owned and operated Chernichky Electric for 50 years.
He attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in McKean and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Paul enjoyed fishing, spending time outdoors, doing projects, and golfing. Paul took first place in his golf division 3 years in a row and finally made a hole-in-one in 2021. Throughout his life he was active in the community through Little League Baseball, McKean's Lions Club, and mentoring students from Erie County Technical School. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Martha “Marty” Chernichky; two sons, Josh Chernichky of McKean and Jake (Kimberly) Chernichky of Troutville, VA; two daughters, Amanda (Thomas) Taylor of Rye, Colorado and Skye (Brandon) Karcher of Lewisburg, PA; a brother, Jeffrey (Kelly) Chernichky of Erie; three sisters, Marianne Gross of Northeast, Susan (George) Utter of Staatsburg, NY, and Karen (Mark) Simpson of Smithville, TN; also 6 grandchildren, Derek, Evan and Dara Taylor, Vada and Theo Chernichky and Alex Karcher.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Monday, December 20, 2021 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, on Tuesday, at 10:00 am.
