Mitchell Wellington Dougan

September 18, 1980 — March 12, 2026

Edinboro

Mitchell Dougan, age 45, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family and pets on March 12, 2026 in Edinboro, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his two children, Aiden Dougan (Josie) and Abby Dougan, and their mom, Rebecca Dougan; brothers-in-law, Jeremy Chaffee (Rita) and Benjamin Chaffee (Laurel); nieces and nephew, Kaylene Peterson (Jordan), Gabriella Beil (Joseph), Zoey Joint and Elliott Chaffee; mother-in-law, Margaret Gould (Dale); father-in-law, Robert Chaffee; siblings Jacob Dougan and Sarah Dougan; and his dogs, Nash and Moose and cats, Taffy and Tori.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Robert Dougan and Sharon Dougan; and an infant sibling.

Mitchell was a 1999 graduate of East High School, where he earned a full scholarship to Syracuse University. He returned home to find a job with Logistics Plus, stationed at General Electric in Grove City, where he worked for many years. While along this journey of life, he would welcome two beautiful children, Aiden and Abby. Unfortunately, Mitch was diagnosed with FSH Muscular Dystrophy, which hindered his ability to work for a long time. Work was very important to Mitch, and while he went many years without working, he maintained his strong work ethic, putting together over 25 Lego sets. After nearly 10 years out of the work force, in 2022 he would find a job at Halo Branded Solutions, where he worked until his final days.

He loved being a member and advisor of the Erie Chapter Order of Demolay, where he met his best friends, Mark and David Haffley, and being a member of the Tyrian Commonwealth Lodge No. 362.

Outside of his family and work, Mitchell loved many things, including the Detroit Lions, Pittsburgh Penguins, college football and basketball, Legos, sitting outside in the sun, watching movies, having “Dude Nights” with his extended family, traveling (especially to New York City and Gatlinburg, Tennessee), going to concerts, and listening to music in general.

A memorial gathering in Mitch's honor will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 5-7 pm at Nick's Place, 12250 Edinboro Rd., Edinboro, PA, with a small service to follow there. The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro is entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association for continued research and eventual cure for Muscular Dystrophy.
