Michelle Willey

March 9, 1979 — August 1, 2013

Michelle Marie Geddes Willey, age 34, passed away unexpectedly on August 1, 2013, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota Florida. By her side was her loving husband of four years, Brent Willey, son of Doug and Chris Willey of Wattsburg.
Michelle, the daughter of Lawrence and Cindy (Case) Geddes of Edinboro, was born in Erie on March 9, 1979. She graduated from General Mclane High School in 1998 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Edinboro University in 2003. She was awarded a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Southern Florida in 2008.
Michelle worked as a counselor for at-risk children at Child Protection Services in Sarasota Florida, and previously at Manatee Children’s Services in Sarasota. She also worked at Longhorn Steakhouse both in Erie and in Sarasota.
Besides her parents and in-laws, she is survived by her sister Jennifer Geddes of Charlotte, North Carolina, her maternal grandparents Bob and Betsy Case of Millcreek, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, and her beloved dog Grady.
A memorial service will be held at Mclane Church on Route 99 in Edinboro on Saturday August 17 at 11:00 AM. The service will be conducted by Pastor Kim Saylor of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Although she had no children of her own, her passion was for helping kids in need. A fund has been set up in her memory for this purpose, and donations may be made to “Michelle’s Ray of Hope” at P.O. Box 283, Osprey, FL 34229, tax EIN#: 46-3374-003.
