Dr. Lisa R. Laird (Parmenter), D. Ed., age 57, of McKean,Pennsylvania, passed away surrounded by family on June 10, 2026 in her beloved home.
She was born on January 1, 1969 in Erie, Pennsylvania to Audrey (Karotka) and Timothy Parmenter. After graduating from McDowell High School, she went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in Geography from Edinboro University, where she met her husband, Phil. While raising her four children, she went back to Edinboro to earn her master’s degree in Counseling. She worked at Mercyhurst, Edinboro, and finally Gannon University, where she was the director of the student success center. While working, she was enrolled in a doctoral program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she defended her dissertation and earned her doctoral degree in Administration and Leadership, an accomplishment she was most proud of.
On September 9th, 1994, Lisa married the love of her life, Phillip Laird, in Mayville New York. Together they built a beautiful life raising four boys in the house built by Phil, that she loved so much. She was dedicated to her children in a remarkable way, which in turn shaped much of her life. For many years while her children were young, she spent nearly every weekend in a gymnasium or at a ball field where she formed many relationships and met some of her best friends. Lisa was an excellent golfer, qualifying for the PIAA State Tournament while in high school. She continued her love of the sport as an instructor after high school. She taught her sons to golf, and always continued to love and enjoy the sport. In recent years, her greatest passion was being a grandmother. After raising four boys, she was blessed with two granddaughters that she adored more than anything. She will be remembered as a woman that loved her children unconditionally, and though future grandchildren won’t get to know their remarkable grandmother, the memories of their LiLi will live on forever.
In addition to her parents, Lisa is survived by her husband Phillip; children, Christopher and Kelly, Nathaniel, Ethan, and James; grandchildren, Josephine and Virginia; and sister, Lori Perry.
