Larry K. Harned

Larry K. Harned, Sr., 85 of Edinboro, died Thursday, January 25, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born in Edinboro on April 30, 1938, the son of the late Lynn and Edna Harned.

A lifelong resident of Edinboro, Larry graduated from the former Edinboro High School. He owned and operated Harned Roofing and Painting for 45 years and was a bus driver for the General McLane School District for 37 years. He served his community as a lifetime member of the Edinboro Fire Department, where he ran Bingo for many years, and was active in the Edinboro Jaycees and Boy Scouts. He was a member of Edinboro United Methodist Church, where he always looked forward to preparing Sunday coffee and treats. He enjoyed traveling and camping with family and friends, taking care of his farm on his John Deere tractors, and morning coffee at the Empty Keg.  LK was well known for his teasing nature, enjoyed playing practical jokes on his family and friends, enjoyed singing, dancing, and spending long hours cutting his grass.  

He was preceded in death by a son, Larry K. Harned, Jr.; a daughter Cynthia M. Passons; a sister, Delores Doucette; 5 brothers, Leslie, Lloyd, Arnold, Wilbur, Norman Harned, and half-sister Beatrice Barney.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Nancy; brother Gerald, 2 sons, Gregory (Rhonda) Harned of Richfield, WI and Brian (Margaret) Harned of Williamsburg, VA; 8 grandchildren, Megan (Kevin) Powers, James and Joshua Nazarovech, Matthew, Cathryn, Jacob, Rachel and Patrick Harned; 2 great grandchildren, Emrielle and Emmett; a sister-in-law, Gretchen Feiling; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Edinboro United Methodist Church, 113 High St., Edinboro, PA on Thursday February 1st 2024 from 1100:am to 1:00pm, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 pm.    

The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is entrusted with funeral arrangements. Burial of ashes will be in Edinboro Cemetery.
