Kathleen Anderson

d. October 15, 2015

Kathleen Mary (Blount) Anderson, 73, of Meadville, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015 at Marquette Hospice House in Meadville after an extended battle with ALS.  She was born in Erie on September 25, 1942, the daughter of the late Harley A. and Margaret L. Blount.

Kathy was a graduate of the first class of General McLane High School in 1960, and the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) recipient of her senior class which was a foreshadowing of her lifelong love of history.  She was a loving and fiercely loyal supporter of her husband in business and her children and grandchildren in their many sports and musical interests.  Kathy faced all things in her life with strength, dedication, honesty and integrity.  She valued hard work, respect, and reliability.  She loved to read and was a lifetime member of the Public Library. Kathy also enjoyed gardening, flowers, and collecting bird figurines, birdhouses and Norman Rockwell art.  In her lighter moments, she enjoyed listening to Elvis singing gospel and inspirational songs and listening to Prairie Home Companion.

She worked at The Associates loan company in her young adult years and then for Dr. William Kline in Union City from 1980 to 1988.  But Kathy’s true dedication was found in her role as wife, mother and homemaker.

Kathy was an active member of the United Methodist Church in McKean and later in Union City.  She faithfully attended Pleasantview Alliance Church in Saegertown in recent years with her husband, her children and their families.

Survivors include her loving husband of almost 53 years; Leroy Anderson; a son Chris Anderson and his wife, Robin; a daughter, Carrie McFarland, all of Meadville; two sisters, Nancy (Wilson) Gruver of McKean, and Jane (Steve) Kuhn of Erie; six grandchildren, Eric (Stephanie), Lauren, Ingrid, Andrew, Sophia and Bryce; also, a great-grandson, Maxwell and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on the family beginning at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 19th, at the Pleasantview Allance Church, 16233 Hwy 86, Saegertown, PA. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Keith Draa officiating.

The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Burial will be private in Sterrettania Cemetery.
