It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joshua Paul Davis, 47, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Edinboro, PA. Josh died peacefully with family at his side on Monday, November 3, 2025 at UPMC Presbyterian following a years-long battle with cancer and kidney disease. He was born in Erie on August 29, 1978, beloved son of Roger and Linda Davis of Edinboro.
Josh was a 1996 graduate of General McLane High School, where he especially enjoyed participating in chorus and the Broadway Dinner Theatre. After high school Josh worked as a tool maker in Cambridge Springs and then he moved on to have several years of employment at Erie Sand and Gravel, then at Joseph McCormick Construction in Wesleyville. After moving to Pittsburgh in 2010, Josh was employed as a utility locator.
Josh had a wide variety of interests that he maintained throughout his life, including music, playing guitar, drawing, painting, video games (including building his own gaming console), hockey, football, fresh water and salt water fishing, gardening, Guy Camp at Lazy Rest, annual vacations, and spending time with family and friends, especially his Pittsburgh ROMEO group who helped him “live wide, if he couldn’t live long.”
While his son was in middle school and high school, Josh was involved with coaching his son’s hockey teams, both at school and at Pittsburgh I.C.E., which offers children of all socio-economic backgrounds the opportunity to learn to play ice hockey.
In addition to his parents, Josh is survived by his son, Kyler Davis; his sister, Alison Davis (Michael Thomas); his long-time partner, Rachel Fields and her family; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many dear friends.
Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jock & Ellouise Davis and Chuck & Helen Lamb; as well as two aunts, Tammy Davies and Kathy Davis.
The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Peter McLaughlin who selflessly donated a kidney to Josh in 2013, allowing Josh to have many more wonderful years with his family and friends. The family is also grateful for the wonderful care that Josh received through the years from numerous doctors, nurses, and staff at UPMC Pittsburgh hospitals and Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh.
