Joshua P. Chernichky, 45, of McKean, died Saturday, March 18, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital following an extensive battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was born in Erie on November 25, 1977, the son of Martha Chernichky and the late Paul Chernichky.
Josh graduated from General McLane High School in 1996 and earned an electrical certification from the Erie County Technical School. He worked as an electrician and earned his Journeyman's license.
He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and earned his Eagle Scout award. Josh loved fishing, woodworking, and gardening. He took pride in growing his own vegetables all year long and also in making custom furniture for his friends and family.
Other than his mother, survivors include his two sisters, Amanda (Tom) Taylor of Rye, CO and Skye (Brandon) Karcher of Lewisburg, PA; a brother Jacob (Kimberly) of Troutville, VA; two nieces, Dara Taylor and Vada Chernichky; also four nephews, Derek and Evan Taylor, Alex Karcher and Theo Chernichky.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. There will be a private Mass of Christian Burial held at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in McKean.
Burial of ashes will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 8880 Main St., McKean, PA 16426 or the Boy Scouts of America (donations.scouting.org).
