Joan Markey

Joan Markey, 69 of McKean, went to be with the Lord while surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital.  She was born in Erie on Dec. 13, 1953, the daughter of the late Theodore and Helen Romba.

Joan graduated from General McLane High School. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in McKean. She had a love for animals of all kinds, a passion for cooking and gardening, and loved the casino and playing bingo. She loved vacationing at Disney World with her family, as she most enjoyed spending time with them, especially her three grandchildren and her special little dog, Scruffy. 

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Michael; three daughters, Melissa (Scott) Caddell of Texas, Melanie (John) Durlin of McKean and Michele (Allan) Meeker of McKean; three sisters, Kathleen (the late Kenneth) Birkmire, Jeannette Romba (her twin), and Alice Romba; three grandchildren that were the light of her life, Kaylie, Chase and Olivia; and her two special friends, Ling and Betty.

             No calling hours will be observed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 11:45 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church in McKean.  The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is entrusted with funeral arrangements.
