It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jessica Lea Chaffee, who peacefully entered eternal rest on August 7, 2025, surrounded by family and her beloved chihuahua, Maggie. Born on August 12, 1975 to Margaret Gould and Robert Chaffee, Jessica was raised in Edinboro, PA. She was a vibrant and free-spirited individual, known for her adventurous nature, boundless creativity, and indomitable strength.
A 1993 graduate of General McLane High School, Jessica was an active participant in the school's music and theater programs. She graced the stage in numerous productions and directed the play The Outsiders during her senior year, showcasing her leadership and passion for the arts.
As an adult, Jessica’s life was marked by a journey of growth, transformation, and resilience. She lived in various cities and states, following wherever life and love took her.
Jessica graduated school as a non-traditional student, but her greatest source of pride was her commitment to sobriety, which she maintained for the last four years of her life. Despite facing the difficult diagnosis of terminal cancer, Jessica remained steadfast in her sobriety, using her experience to inspire and support others in their own recovery journeys. Through her involvement in Alcoholics Anonymous and with the help of her sponsor and the many support groups she attended, Jessica not only gave herself the gift of four beautiful years but also offered this precious gift to her family and friends. Her courage and compassion touched countless lives, and her legacy will live on in those she helped.
Jessica was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Robert C.Chaffee and Charlotte W. Chaffee. She is survived by her parents, Meg and Dale Gould and Robert Chaffee; her brothers, Jeremy Chaffee (Rita) and Benjamin Chaffee (Laurel Mitchell); her sister, Rebecca Dougan; nieces, Kaylene Peterson (Jordan), Gabriella Beil (Joseph), and Abigail Dougan; nephews, Aiden Dougan (Josie) and Elliott Chaffee, her fur baby, Maggie; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
No services are planned. The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro was entrusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to your local animal shelter or to organizations supporting the LGBTQ+ community. The family would also like to express their heartfelt thanks to Aseracare, Jessica’s aunts, Colleen Smith and Kim Sullivan, and her uncle, Brian Sullivan, whose love and care made it possible for Jessica to spend her final days at home, peacefully surrounded by those she loved.
