Jean Glass Steadman, 96, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Wesbury Retirement Community in Meadville. She was born in Franklin, PA on April 22, 1929, the daughter of the late Dorrance B. Glass and Ina O. Glass Richardson.
Jean graduated from Academy High School in 1947. She was employed by Shreve Associates before her marriage to Henry L. Steadman, Jr. in 1950. Together they resided in Erie, PA, Eden, NY, Warren, PA and Hamburg, NY, before retiring to Edinboro, PA in 1989.
She served as Secretary-Treasurer of North Warren Presbyterian Church for two years. She was active in YWCA and was always part of a fun luncheon group in each of the places she lived.
Jean had many hobbies and interests, but in her earlier years she especially enjoyed rug braiding, collecting and refinishing furniture, and caning chairs. Her love of decorating made for a warm home in each of the places they lived.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry in 2007; and two brothers, John (Estelle) and Richard (Elaine) Glass.
Survivors include her children, Carol Reams and Edward Steadman, both of Warren, PA, and Janet (Michael) Shelton of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren, Michael, Jessica, Kelsey, Sarah, Haley, Lauren, and Megan; ten great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Jean's family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community for their 'family like' care throughout her time there. They could not have provided better care.
No public services are planned. The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro is entrusted with funeral arrangements.
Burial will be in Edinboro Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Edinboro United Methodist Church, 113 High St., Edinboro, PA 16412. To leave condolences, please visit www.gluntfuneralhome.com.
