Jean Salen

March 1, 1930 — September 8, 2017

Jean M. Salen, of McKean, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2017 at Edinboro Manor. She was born in Corry, Pa on March 1, 1930, the daughter of the late Clyde F. and Mary (Hawthorne) Salen. She was employed at General Electric until her retirement.

Jean was a member of the McKean United Methodist Church and the McKean Golden Agers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence “Bill” Salen and Lewis “Cy” Salen; her beloved sister, Lucile Salen; and her niece, Mary Ann Griffith.

Survivors include her dear friends, Carmen and Patti Heubel, whom she adopted in her final years as family, and who assisted with her care; and her precious dog, Bambi, who now resides with the Heubel family.

A special thank you to the staff at Edinboro Manor for their care. In particular, her aides, Rhonda, Laura, Betty, Polly and many others who gave loving care in her final years; and also to Lakeland Hospice for their kind and gentle care in her final days.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. A service will be held there at 7 p.m., with Rev. Barb English officiating.

Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McKean Hose Co., 5011 School St., McKean, PA 16426, or McKean United Methodist Church, 5041 North Main St., McKean, PA 16426.
