Janis E. Heatherington

Janis E. Heatherington, 68 of Edinboro, died Wednesday, October 30, 2025 at UPMC Hamot after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born in McKeesport, PA on May 26, 1957, the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Heatherington.

Janis graduated from McKeesport High School in 1975 and went on to earn a Masters in Reading from Edinboro University of PA. She taught in the Erie School District, including Pfeiffer-Burleigh Elementary School, for 25 years.

While still in college, Janis made Edinboro her home and was part of the Lakeside community for over 40 years. She traveled abroad on several occasions and enjoyed relaxing on the beach. She especially loved spending time with friends and her pets.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert, Jr., and sister, Marcia Pabis. She is survived by her sister, Lynn (Dennis) Edenhart of McKeesport; brother-in-law, Robert Pabis of Edinboro; special friends, Anna and Bella; and many good friends and cousins.

No services are planned. The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is entrusted with arrangements.
