Irene Philomena (Rinderle) Lewis, 98, formerly of Edinboro, Cambridge Springs, and Harborcreek, died Friday, June 17, 2016 at Wesbury United Methodist Community in Meadville. She was born in Erie on April 15, 1918, the daughter of the late Leo J. and Ida F. Rinderle.
Irene was a member of the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edinboro for many years. She was a member of the Social Concerns Committee and helped out at Thrifty Threads.
Along with raising her family, Irene worked as a billing supervisor for Erie Insurance for many years.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert John Lewis in 1986; her five brothers, Roman, Norbert, Victor, Ferdinand and Leo Rinderle and her two sisters, Mildred Rupp, and Ida Schneider.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Lewis and his dear friend, Sharon DiNicola of Erie; and her two daughters, Vickie Mattson of Erie and Roberta Terrill and her husband, Leonard, of Edinboro; also 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
At her request, no public calling hours will be observed and a private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
