Herbert R. “Dutch” Donahue, 91, lifelong resident of McKean, died Tuesday, December 21, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, in the house he was born in, on January 5, 1930, son of the late Fay and Daisy Donahue.
He served in the US Army for 6 years. Dutch owned and operated Donahue's Garage in McKean for 27 years. Before he had started the garage in 1966, he worked a few years at Penn Brass in Erie.
Dutch was a member of the McKean Hose Company, the Edinboro/McKean VFW Post 740, and a lifetime member of the St. Francis Ushers Club. He was also a 50 year member of the Oasis Lodge #416 in Edinboro and a member of the Erie / Crawford County Veterans Burial Detail.
He loved bowling, golfing and spending time with his family especially his great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Martha in 1966; a sister, Jeanne Havern; and two brothers, Richard and Jack Donahue.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Rose; two daughters, Cindy (Kenneth) Hayes of Edinboro and Bev (Michael) Hurta of Erie; a sister, Joyce Harrison of Erie; three brothers, Gerald “Pete” of Girard, Kenneth “Joe” (Darlene) of Arizona, and James (Aggie) of Kentucky; 6 grandchildren, Lisa (Lori) Hayes, Mark (Beth) Hayes, Jennifer (Hunter) Miller, Paul (Lori) Hayes, Leah (Tom) Ingro, and Kelly (Phillip) John, Jr.; also, 16 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Patrick, Trent, Logan, Baya, Adley, Audra, Aavyn, Vayda, and Kyla.
The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
