Harold J. Lamb

May 3, 1931 — Oct 1, 2026

Rouseville

Harold J Lamb, age 95yr passed away on October 1, 2026. His wife, Patricia, of nearly 73 years, survives.

Born in Rouseville, Pennsylvania in 1931, he was the son of Jane and William Lamb. He attended Rouseville School and Oil City High School. After graduating high school he worked in mechanics until entering the Navy in 1951. He served during the Korean conflict and then returned to Rouseville Pennsylvania to continue his career as a diesel mechanic and business owner.

On October 4, 1965 he opened the Rouseville Pennzoil Station, selling fuel and offering Gasoline/Diesel Truck and Automobile Mechanic services. As his business demands grew and his young family grew, he made the hard choice to sell his business to be more present in his family life, a decision that proved to be the cornerstone of his well lived life. His family was the most important thing to him, and he lived his life reflecting that; ‘Papa’ became his identity for 4 generations of family soaking up his Godly presence.

He enjoyed hunting, gardening, painting, woodworking, reading his Bible, and spending time with his family. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren could always expect to see him at their sporting events, music events, or any activity they were participating in and family get-togethers.

Harold took a job at Penelec after closing his business and was proud to have retired from there.

In 1945 at the age of 14 Harold joined the Rouseville fire department because young boys were paid $.75 to go fight wildfires. He continued to be a lifelong member of the Rouseville fire department, passing that torch to his son, grandson, and great-granddaughter.

Harold served on the Board of Education for the Oil City School District in the 1960s, serving a Secretary during the building of the current high school located on Lynch Boulevard. His love of water led him to fight diligently for the high school to have a swimming pool.

Harold served on the Rynd Farm Cemetery Board for most of his life. He was a member of the Rouseville Planning Commission. He was active in Church his entire life, leading young couples groups in his early married years, teaching Sunday school, working with youth as his children grew, hosting home study groups and holding various leadership roles.

Harold enjoyed being part of the Rouseville community for his entire life. His memory was iron clad until his final days and he enjoyed sharing historical stories of his days growing up and living in Rouseville.

Harold’s outdoor pastimes included taking his family swimming locally or at Presque Isle and hiking in local woods and state parks. He very much enjoyed the outdoors.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and sister, and beloved golden retriever Nugget.

He is survived by 4 children, Judy(Bill) Schwab, Randy Lamb, Jennifer Lamb, Joni(Will)Stevenson. Nine grandchildren, Andrew(Rachel) Schwab, Jordan(Alicia) Schwab, Tyler(Lindsey) Schwab, Kevin(Rachel) Lamb, Cortland(Robin) Chapman, Madeline(Jake) Davis, Olivia Chapman, Grady Stevenson, Cole Stevenson and 18 great-grandchildren

At Harold’s request, his final earthly celebration will be held at Rouseville Fire Dept Community Center. He was born in Rouseville, lived his entire life (outside of military assignments) in Rouseville and chose to have his final farewell in Rouseville.

His service, officiated by Pastor Jerry Burns, will be held October 18th, Visitation 2-4pm, Service at 4, followed by internment, with Military honors, at Rynd Farm Cemetery, where his grandsons will bury him.
