Geraldine M. Barnes, 99, of Edinboro, died Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Edinboro on December 11, 1926, the daughter of the late Gerald and Ruby Baker.
Geraldine graduated as valedictorian at Edinboro High School in 1944 then attended Mercyhurst College. She married Gaylord Guy Barnes in 1946, and they raised four children.
Geraldine belonged to the Cambridge Springs Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for many decades up until her death. She was well known by many in the Edinboro area for her Bible education work.
She loved her family and was an excellent mother to her children and home maker. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She, also, delighted in caring for her yard and flowers where she lived in Edinboro at the house that was built in 1915 where her grandmother lived.
Geraldine was a hard-working, hospitable, unselfish, self-sacrificing person who put the concerns and needs of others ahead of her own. She was known as a kind and gracious woman and dearly loved by her family and her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gaylord Guy Barnes in 1987 and a son, Dennis Barnes, in 2010.
Survivors include a son, Terry (Sherry) Barnes of West Palm Beach, FL; two daughters, Karen (Monty) Noble of Edinboro and Diane (Michael) Schwindt of Erie; daughter-in-law, Linda Barnes of Salamanca, NY; grandchildren, Scott (Sherri) Noble, Chandra (Robert) Parker, Justin (Lesley) Noble, Emily Chandler, Colin (Laura) Noble, Jordan Noble, Gretchen (Jeremy) Shatto and Jeffrey (Lydia) Schwindt; great grandchildren, Shelby (Cory) Noble-Bailey, Mitchell (Darien) Noble; Calvin Specht, Jackson Specht, Isabella (Stephen) Porter and Cody Shatto.
The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is entrusted with funeral arrangements.
No calling hours will be observed. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 414 McClellan Street, Cambridge Springs, PA. 16403.
