Elsie M. Pencille, 85, of Erie and formerly of McKean, died Saturday, May 10, 2025 at LECOM Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born in Erie on May 19, 1939, the daughter of the late Theodore and Hazel Getz.

Elsie graduated from Academy High School in 1958. Over the years she worked at the Edinboro Shurfine, St. Francis Ushers Club, and she co-owned the McKean Tavern in 1978.

Elsie enjoyed thrifting and yard sales, canning summer harvests, and attending fire department Christmas auctions throughout the area. Elsie was a legend on Old Route 99, and will always be remembered waving from her front porch to any and all passing by.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, George Pencille, in 2017; a brother, Theodore Getz, Jr.; two sisters, Audrey Casbohm and Margaret Swickard; a son-in-law, Danny Baney, and grandson, Justin Baney.

Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Baney and Laurie (Michael) Weschler of McKean and Tammy (Kelly) Myers of Erie; a sister, Mary Martinez of Erie; eight grandchildren, Rachel (Steve) Teator, Michael (Nicole) Weschler, Matthew (Anyssa) Weschler, Logan (Breanna) Weschler, Patrick (Kelsey) Baney, Nathan (Rebecca) Myers, Seth (McKenzie) Myers and Tyler Bailey; and twelve great grandchildren, Aubrey Teator, Lucy and Liam Calihan, Audrey, Emma and Hudson Baney, Levi, Hannah, Madison, Allie and Lainey Weschler, and Emryn Myers. She is also survived by her former spouse, Art Osterberg.

Elsie's family would like to thank LECOM Hospice VNA (especially Amy, Jenelle and Leslie), LECOM Nursing and Rehabilitation Hospice Unit, and the staff of Regency at South Shore, where she will be greatly missed by all of her friends.

Services for Elsie were private. Burial took place in Dunn Valley Cemetery.
