Edward Bilinski

Edward P. Bilinski, 95, of McKean Twp, Erie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011 at St. Mary's Asbury Ridge Nursing Home. He was born in Lackawanna, NY on June 29, 1916, the son of the late Edward and Rose Lewczek Bilinski.
After graduating in 1935 from the Burgard High School in Buffalo, NY, Edward joined the U.S. Army and served honorably during WWII in the Pacific Theater and U.S.occupied Japan. He began work as a truck mechanic at the General Motors Truck and Coach factory branch in Buffalo, later becoming its head sales manager.  Subsequently he became a full partner with the late Harold Reslink of Reslink & Wiggers Motors and Fleet Sales in Erie.
An avid sportsman, he enjoyed numerous hunting and fishing trips flying to Alaska, Canada and Maine. As an instrument-rated private pilot and aircraft owner, he was for many years active in exploring many parts of the US and Canada. As a fifty-year member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, he never lost his passion for flying.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Lewandowski and Florence Smolinski, ; and two brothers, Joseph and Henry Bilinski.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years, Alice Ruth Dunbar Bilinski; a sister, Anna Kennedy, of Hinsdale, NY, three sisters-in-law, Lorraine Bilinski, of Fredonia, NY, Ann Bilinski, of Cuba, NY and Emma Austin of Severna Park, MD; and  a brother-in-law, Joseph Smolinski, of Syracuse, NY.
He was a kind and loving uncle to his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and will be sadly missed by all his family.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A service will be held there on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Mark Nowak officiating.
