Edie Raun, 85 of Edinboro, PA passed away at home on Thursday, March 16, 2023 surrounded by her beloved family. She was born in Edinboro on July 4, 1937, the daughter of the late Aimé H. and Edith L. Doucette.

Edie graduated from Edinboro High School. She spent most of her life in Edinboro, raising a family with her husband and high school sweetheart, Bill, with whom she recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on March 1st.  After high school, she worked as a cashier at Cooper's Book Store, was a cook at T-Rays tavern and retired from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 2002, where she worked in the Housekeeping Department. Edie took great pride in her work and was well respected by the Edinboro University staff.

She was a long time member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, where she sang in a choir and served a term as President of the Altar and Rosary Society. In her younger years, Edie enjoyed going to sock hops at the Lakeside Canoe Club and both round and square dancing with her sweetheart Bill.  She was active in a bowling league and also enjoyed golfing. She was a member of the women's auxiliary at the Edinboro Fire Department for many years. She had a zest for life and enjoyed planning holiday parties for  her family, gardening, sewing, cross-stitch, and crafting.  After retirement, Edie and Bill enjoyed spending winters in Newport Richie and Lakeland, Florida where they spent time at local flea markets and touring wineries with friends. She found her greatest joy in loving, hugging and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Edie said, "Always hug your children and tell them that you love them." 

Edie was preceded in death by her sister, Aimeé Rodak; and four brothers, Forrest, Ronald, Edward and Robert Doucette

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, William “Bill” Raun; three sons, John (Sharalee) Raun of (Conneaut Lake), Bill (Christina Nichols) Raun of Medina, OH, and David (Anne) Raun of Edinboro; three daughters, Edie (Wayne) Schlosser of (Saegertown), Becky (Mark) Hooven of (Girard) and Carrie (Bryan Ruth) Bailey of (Girard); a sister, Eleonora Turnage of (Edinboro); 15 grandchildren: Josh, Ryan, Sarah, Brittany, Ashley, Bradley, Dalton, Tyler, Sean, John, Miranda, Jacob, Abegail, Ellie and Eryn ; 9 great grandchildren: Zane, Raya, Oliver, Liam, Nora, Rocco, Mia, Keaton, Roslyn and many nieces and nephews. 

Edie's family would like to give special thanks to Linda Hammond, Laura and Dawn with Visiting Nurse Association of Erie County/LECOM hospice care, and Our Lady of the Lake church community for all of their special care and love for her.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Wednesday, March 22, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 23 at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 128 Sunset Drive, Edinboro, PA at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will be in Edinboro Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Edinboro Fire Department and/or VNA of Erie County/LECOM Hospice. To send condolences please visit www.gluntfuneralhome.com.
