Dorothy Woods

Dorothy Elizabeth (Swift) Woods, 92, of Edinboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017 at her home. She was born in Edinboro on August 31, 1925, the daughter of the late Herald and Florence Swift.

Dorothy worked with her late husband, Keith, on the family farm and raised her children in Edinboro. She fed many people through her kitchen known as “The Crane Road Diner”. During WWII, Dorothy worked at Lord Manufacturing Co. in Erie and she had also worked at the Boston Store in Erie for 11 years.

She was a life time member of  Rebekah's (Independent Order of the Odd Fellows). She taught numerous people how to sew and to preserve food.

Dorothy was a proud member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Drakes Mills for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Keith Woods; a son, Jay Woods; a daughter, Peggy Jo Harvey; and a brother, Herald Swift.

Survivors include a daughter, Sue Etta (Jack) Ball of McKean; a son, Rodger (Judy) Woods of Meadville; a son-in-law, Tom Harvey of Edinboro; also grandchildren, Amy (Charles) Hesselgesser, Jill (William) Davis, Jamie (Chad) Smith, Elizabeth (Michael) Siepker, Meghan (Matthew) Grossman, Robert (Carol) Harvey, Richard (Leslie) Harvey, Melissa (Matthew) Ott, Matthew Woods and Michelle Woods; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A service will be held there on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Riddle officiating.

Burial will be in McLane Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Edinboro Fire Department, 125 Meadville St., Edinboro, PA 16412 or St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 25812 Mt. Pleasant Rd., Cambridge Springs, PA 16403.
