Donald Bryant

Donald Forest Bryant, 92, of McLane, PA passed on March 24, 2012. He was born September 26, 1919, in Titusville, PA to Margaret Mae (Reynolds) Bryant and Leonard Guy Bryant. He graduated from Comstock Titusville High School in 1938. He married Ellen Louise Carter in 1941 and they celebrated 62 years prior to her death in 2003. He worked for Weil McLain, Griffin, and the WPA, before working for General Electric for almost 40 years. He served in the United States Navy as a Fireman 1st class during WWII (1944-46). He lived in and maintained his own home in McLane, PA until age 91. Most recently, he was a resident of Niagra Village Retirement Community in Millcreek, PA.
He was an active member of the American Legion Post 439, Retired Association of General Electric, Edinboro Area Historical Society, and Unity of Edinboro. He bowled in leagues for many years, most recently in the senior’s league. He was an active member of the Edinboro Senior’s group and was a participant in a senior’s card club. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, ice fishing, playing cards, and gardening. He and his wife maintained and loved their family cottage which allowed them to embrace their mutual love of wildlife and nature. He was a skilled outdoorsman who could keenly identify species of birds, animals, and plants on sight. He was full of vitality and, until his February hospitalization, maintained an active social life.
Above all, his life was a testament to commitment and loyalty to family. He was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He took great responsibility for family members and loyally served as a caretaker and companion. He treated everyone he encountered with reverence and kindness. He was greatly loved.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ellen (Carter) Bryant; his infant daughter, Cathy Diane Bryant; brothers, Raymond Bryant and Ted Bryant; his sisters, Marjorie Grove and Jean Bryant; and son-in-law, David Munzert. He is survived by his daughter, Joanne Munzert; brother, Allen Bryant (Bobbie) of Townville; sister, Rita Ghering of Waterford; granddaughters Becky (Pulling) Willow of Edinboro, and Shelly (Pulling) Boutte (Matt) of Woodland Park, CO; grandson-in-law, Norman Willow of Edinboro; great-grandchildren, Alayna Willow, and Jack, Clayton and Sophia Boutte;  many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and special friends. Visitors may call at Glunt Funeral Home 210 Erie St. Edinboro on Sunday, April 1st from 2PM-4PM and 7PM-9PM.  A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, April 2nd at 11:00AM. at Unity in Edinboro with Rev.
