Daniel O. McLaughlin, 83, of Edinboro, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015.  He was born in Homestead, PA on Jan. 31, 1931, the son of the late Frank and  Sofia McLaughlin.
Dan graduated form Edinboro University in 1958 with a degree in elementary education.  He spent over 30 years as a teacher and principal at Cambridge Springs Elementary School until his retirement in 1993.
Dan was involved with the Edinboro Council and Sewer Authority for more than 40 years. Being elected to the Council in 1964, he served as chairman for many years. He was then asked to serve on the Sewer and Water Authority in 1986, and within a year was its chairman.
He enjoyed playing golf and supporting the General McLane Athletics especially when his grandchildren were involved.
Dan was in the US Army and served two years in Korea. He was a member of the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edinboro and the Exchange Club in Crawford Co.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers, James and Francis McLaughlin.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Lorraine Kostas McLaughlin; a son, James P. McLaughlin of Edinboro; two daughters, Helen Skelton and her husband, Dennis, of Edinboro and Dani Rooney and her husband, Tom, of Portsmouth, NH; also six grandchildren, Dan, Ryan, and Jena Skelton, Finn, Bridget and Ian Rooney.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 128 Sunset Drive, Edinboro, at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Daniel Hoffman officiating.
Burial will be in Edinboro Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to an organization of your choice.
