Clara D. Meyer, 73 of McKean Township went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at L.E.C.O.M Senior Living Center. She was born in Erie, Pa on August 12, 1948, the daughter of the late Frank J. Dachtyl Sr. and Stella M. Czesnowski Dachtyl.
Clara graduated from St. Benedict Academy in 1967. She was proudly retired from the City of Erie School District where she was a reading specialist for over 35 years.
She was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Parish and a retired member of the McKean Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, mainly Danielle Steel novels, completing puzzles, traveling to Lancaster, holiday crafts and décor, card parties, anything moose, and most importantly, spoiling her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband John A. Meyer, whom she wed on June 19, 1971 and who died in 2004; and a sister- in- law, Karen Dachtyl.
Survivors include a son, John Michael Meyer and partner Shelby Fogle; a sister, Phyllis Seth and her husband Joseph of McKean; a brother, Frank Dachtyl Jr. of McKean; lifelong friend and companion, Kenneth Pyle; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call at St. Francis Xavier Church Catholic Church, 8880 West Main St., McKean on Friday, September 24, 2021 from 5 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Jason Feigh officiating.
All CDC guidelines requiring face masks and social distancing will be in place.
The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
