Bonnie Long

d. December 30, 2016

Bonnie Gay Long (born Bonnie Gay Geddes) came to the end of her year-long battle with lung cancer on December 30, 2016, at the age of 75. She had been briefly hospitalized on November 4, 2016 and had been in the care of Edinboro Manor since then. She decided to

opt out of the traditional radiation and chemotherapy cancer treatments when she was originally diagnosed, as she felt these would decrease the quality of her remaining life. In this, she was

correct, as she had a wonderful spring and summer in 2016.

She was born in Clearfield, PA, to Rembrandt Paul Geddes and Cleda Mildred Button Geddes Landon on May 16, 1941. She attended school in Curwensville, PA and spent a number of years living with her maternal grandparents there. After her family relocated to Erie PA, she attended Academy High School in the 1950s.

She worked at a variety of jobs over the years, including assembly work at Marx toys in Erie and as an aide at St. Vincent Hospital. Her most recent job was with Ogden Industries in Edinboro.

She is survived by her brother Larry Geddes (Cindy), of Edinboro, by a daughter, Lisa Marfinetz of Lake City, and by a son, Craig Lyons (Michelle), of Springboro. She also leaves a niece, Jennifer Hall (Tukuli), of Plantation FL and their daughter, Kamryn. In addition, she leaves four grandsons, Jake and Nicholas Lyons, and Marshall and Mitchell Marfinetz. She was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Michelle Geddes Willey.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Saturday, January 7, 2017, from 12 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Priestap officiating.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in the spring of 2017. Please make charitable contributions to Michelle’s Ray of Hope, PO Box 283 Osprey, FL 34229.
