Betty J. Armel

Betty Janet Armel, 90, of Cambridge Springs, PA, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026. She was born in Laceyville, PA on August 27, 1936, the daughter of the late Theron “T.V.” and Gladys Layton Lewis.

Mrs. Armel was a 1954 graduate of Cambridge Springs Joint High School and a 1986 graduate of LPN VoTech School in Meadville, PA. She worked at the VA Medical Center in Erie, PA until retiring August 1999.

Betty enjoyed the outdoors, doing volunteer work, gardening and making blankets for Project Linus.

Betty lived in Crossingville for 53 years on the family farm. She married George E. Armel, October 3, 1963. He preceeded her in death December 16, 1994. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Sara Kowalczik; a brother, Terry Lewis; and a granddaughter, Lori Marie Armel.

Survivors include three sons, Raymond Armel of Springboro, Jerry (Deb) Armel of Mosiertown, PA and Jim Armel of Cambridge Springs; a daughter, Susan (Tom) McGlynn of Crossingville, PA; 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

No services will be held at this time. The Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Edinboro is entrusted with arrangements.
