Bernard Gary Heasley, 62, of Edinboro, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born in Meadville, PA on March 16, 1951, son of the late Bernard C. and Florence Hirst Heasley.
He was employed by Johnson Controls as steam fitter foreman. An avid hunter and outdoors-man, he loved hunting with his son, Bryan, and their chocolate Labradors Retrievers that he raised and trained for bird hunting. As a compassionate and loving person, he most thoroughly enjoyed retirement and caring for his family. He was conservative in politics, had a healthy respect for Rule of Law, and was a Pro-Life advocate.
Bernard earned a BS degree with a dual major in chemistry and biology. He completed a 4 year program as an apprentice for Local 47, Plumbers and Steamfitters.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Heasley in 2011, a brother, George Heasley, a brother-in-law, Fred Hassel, and a nephew, Jon Hassel.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janice (Cebulski) Heasley, a daughter, Jennifer Heasley and her fiance, Sean Williams, a brother, Thomas Heasley (wife, Barbara) of Enon Valley, PA, a sister, Mary Hassel of FL, 3 nephews Sam Hassel, Thomas Heasley, Dr. Eric Heasley and a lifelong friend, Gary Mukina.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Prayers will be held on Thursday at 10:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church at 11:00 am celebrated by Fr. Dan Hoffman. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery at a later date.
