Barbara Jean Lucore, age 74 of Edinboro, formerly of Lawrence Park in Erie, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July, 1, 2021 at St. Vincent hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Barb was born on June 6, 1947 in Erie, Pa, to the late William and Louise (Fries) Godfrey.

Barb grew up attending Lawrence Park High School, where she met the love of her life, Lowell Lucore, III. They were high school sweethearts and later married for 54 years.

Together they had 3 sons, to whom she was completely devoted. Lowell IV “Bud” (Mary) of Niagara Falls, Ny, Steven of Gillette, Wy and Daniel (Stephanie) of Erie, Pa. Barb was also the proud grandmother to Jason (Deana) and Jeffery Lucore both of Niagara Falls, Ny and Samuel Lucore of Gillette, Wy. She also has 2 great grandchildren, Wyatt and Adara Lucore of Niagara Falls, Ny.

Barb is also survived by her sister, Patricia (Clifford) Cass of Erie, Pa, William (Linda) Godfrey of Pigeon Forge, Tn; 2 stepsisters, Delann Frost (Jim), Debbie Marlor (Hugh), a sister-in-law, Gina Burgos (Rafi), and brother-in-laws, Fred (Diane), George (Shirley), Donald, John, and Matthew Lucore. Also survived by 20 nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews who loved her.

Barb was a 1965 graduate of Lawrence Park High School and went to nursing school in Georgetown, Washington D.C. After graduation Barb worked at St. Vincent Hospital and Erie Osteopathic Hospital until her first son, “Bud”, was born. Afterwards, Barb became a stay-at-home mom and remained very active in her children’s education and community. Upon moving to North Tonawanda, Ny in 1974 she taught English as a second language, participated in cub scouts as a den mother, drove for Meals on Wheels, taught recent public school graduates with Literacy Volunteers, and aided in setting up the Spruce Elementary School Library.

In 1996 the family moved to Edinboro, Pa where she volunteered her time with the Edinboro Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, chaperoning the General McLane Marching Band, helped with the curriculum support committee at General McLane High School as well as volunteering many hours at James W. Parker Middle School.

In her lifetime she traveled with her husband throughout Europe, South America, Africa and all over the United States. During her world travels she fell in love with Ireland, and her most frequented domestic location being Walt Disney World, Orlando Fl. Her many interests included reading, Elvis, ceramics, knitting, crafts, bowling, bingo, partaking in desserts but most of all enjoying her cottage and boat at Canadohta Lake.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother, Marion Godfrey, her father in-law, Lowell Lucore ll, mother in-law, Henrietta Lucore and a stepbrother, David Johnson.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held there on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Shawn Clerkin officiating.

Burial will follow in Edinboro Cemetery.
