Anna Yocina Sekel, 87, of Erie died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, September 5, 2011 at Hamot Medical Center. She was born in Conneautville, PA on May 11, 1924. Daughter of the late John and Helen Kapanick Yocina.
Anna retired from Lyons Transportation Lines as a dispatcher. She was also a member of the Saints Peter and Paul Ladies Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her brothers John and Michael Yocina, and her sister Helen Cap.
Anna is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, John Sekel; her son Larry Sekel and his wife Lynn of Lancaster, PA; two daughters Karen Sanford and her husband Stan of Jacksonville, FL; and Janet Casciato and her husband Daniel of Pittsburgh, PA; her sister Mary Gall of Conneautville, PA; also five grandchildren, Jay Sekel and his wife Wendy, Brian Sekel, Alexa Sekel, Nicole Sanford and Austin Sanford.
Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.. A short service will be held at 8:30 p.m.. The funeral service will be held Saturday at Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 25636 N. Moisertown Road, Edinboro, PA, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Dennis Hendershot officiating.
