Alice Hudy

Alice Marie McGuire Hudy, 80, of Edinboro, died Sunday, May 9, 2010 at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born in North Girard (Lake City), PA, on June 26, 1929, daughter of the late Ralph James and Nellie Grace Shaffstall McGuire.
Alice was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edinboro, where she taught Religious Education and Vacation Bible School for over 30 years, was a member and past president of the Altar Rosary Society, and was in charge of organizing and preparing funeral dinners from 1984 to 2009. She worked for General McLane School District in the cafeteria and custodial department.  She enjoyed shopping and doing crafts, especially plastic canvas for which she won many ribbons at the Waterford Fair.  Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Alice was proceeded in death by her daughter Sharon Schock and by seven brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include her most beloved husband Stanley John Hudy; her son, John (Georgia Kazakos) Hudy of Edinboro; son-in-law, Bill Schock of Conneaut, OH; two daughters, Renee Lineman (Bryan) of Oil City and Colleen DeBrakeleer (Lee) of Mill Village, PA; ten grandchildren, Shawn (Tracey) McArdle of Edinboro; Amy McArdle (Fiancé Brian Zimmerly) of Waterford, James (Annice) Hoffman of Erie; Michael (Kasey) Hoffman of Oil City, Philip (Amanda) Bedo of Roxboro, NC; Lisa Lufkin (Alan) of Strongsville, OH; Nicole Morris (Marcus) of Oil City; Christopher Hudy (Fiancé Jen Wagner) of Mt. Pleasant, PA; Alicia and Brandon DeBrakeleer of Mill Village; eight great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Rosalie Harayda (Andy) and brother-in-law, Frank Hudy, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Friends may call the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro on Wednesday, from 2p.m. to 4p.m. and 7p.m. to 9p.m.  The Alter Rosary Society will be saying the Rosary at 3:30 p.m.. A prayer service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Glunt Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Edinboro, on Thursday at 11:00 a.m..  Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, in Crossingville.  Memorials may be made to Franklin Township VFD 7455 New Road Edinboro, PA 16412 or Our Lady of the Lake Alter Rosary Society, 128 Sunset Drive, Edinboro, PA 16412.
