Wilson "Wags" A. Gruver

Wilson Anthony Gruver was born June 28, 1939 at home and was nicknamed WAGS by the doctor who delivered him.

Wags is survived by his wife, Nancy (Blount) Gruver, whom he married on July 20, 1957; their three sons, Dan (Deb) Gruver, Jeff Gruver and Steve (Elizabeth) Gruver; 8 grandchildren, Rachel Gruver, Amanda (Garrett) Yates, Natalie (Dan) Caponi, Devon Gruver, Eli (Katie) Gruver, Sarah (Jonathan) Jewell, Emma (Justin) Brown, and Trey (fiance Sydney) Grace; 6 great grandchildren, Lila, Kylie, Lettie, Remi, Cam and Penny; a sister, Sandra Pollard; a sister-in-law, Jane (Steve) Kuhn and a brother-in-law, Leroy Anderson.

Wags was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson G and Rose Marie (Yeager) Gruver; a brother, Dick Gruver; a daughter-in-law, Terri (Doverspike) Gruver; a brother-in-law, Bob Pollard and a sister-in-law, Kathy (Blount) Anderson.

Wags' life was full of adventures. He bought his first motorcycle, a 1939 Indian when he was 19. From 1973 to 2013, Wags and his wife Nancy traveled by motorcycle through all 48 continental states with their best friends, Fred and Connie Doverspike. He also loved the outdoors; especially hunting, fishing, four wheeling and boating.

He started working at the age of 11 as a bowling pin setter. He was a delivery man for General Parcel and Arthur F Schultz, Co and a school bus driver for the General McLane School District. He was a co-founder and co-owner of Gruver's Auto Repair for 37 years, first with his father, Wilson G. Gruver, and then with his son, Dan Gruver. Once he retired, he worked 10 years for the Greater Erie Auto Auction.

Wags was a lifelong member of the Erie Motorcycle Club, the AMA, Gem City Outdoorsman's Club and the NRA. He was a member of Weis Library United Methodist Church.

The family would like to thank everyone at Edinboro Manor and Great Lakes Hospice.

Friends may gather at the Glunt Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 3 to 7 p.m. A service will be held at the Weis Library United Methodist Church, 6020 Heidler Rd., Fairview, on Wednesday, January 3rd at 11:00 a.m.
